What is ISO 50001?
Energy management is a fundamental area of focus across all sectors of industry. Implementing an ISO 50001 certified energy management system can save you money and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
ISO 50001 details requirements to enable you to develop and run a system, identifying high energy usage areas and targeting reductions in those areas for increased energy efficiency.
CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
ISO 50001 is of particular use if your organisation is subject to the Government’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment or CRC).
The CRC now allows verification of carbon emission reduction via schemes alternative, but equivalent, to the Carbon Trust Standard to count as an Early Action Metric.
So, if required, when we assess against ISO 50001, we can also check how well your systems meet the additional key requirements that should allow you to comply with the Early Action Metric under the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.
For consideration as an Early Action Metric, we can reference the additional checks in your ISO 50001 assessment report, which you should then submit to the scheme organisers, together with verified data proving your emissions reduction of 2.5% over three years.
